Unlike traditional oral antidepressants, Spravato® works rapidly, targeting specific brain receptors to restore chemical imbalances, providing relief for those who have not responded to other treatments.
Administered under the supervision of a healthcare provider, Spravato® is part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes an oral antidepressant. It offers a new approach to managing severe depression symptoms effectively.
Spravato® nasal spray at Penfield Psychiatry Clinic is administered under careful supervision to ensure safety and effectiveness for managing depression symptoms.
Patients should abstain from eating for at least 2 hours and from drinking for 30 minutes before the treatment.
- Gently tilt your head back to a comfortable position.
- Insert the nasal spray device into one nostril and administer two sprays.
- Repeat the process for the other nostril, delivering two sprays.
- Ensure the patient remains in an upright position during and after administration.
- Patients are monitored for a minimum of 2 hours post-treatment.
- Observations are made to manage and address any potential side effects that may arise
- Initially, treatment consists of twice-weekly sessions for the first four weeks.
- This is followed by once-weekly sessions for an additional four weeks.
- Dosage adjustments are made by the doctor based on improvements in the patient’s mental health
